Ian Dean-Boardman

As many of you know Ian Dean- Boardman sadly passed away on Sunday 28th January. On behalf of the Society we would like to express our sincere condolences to all his family and many friends. There are some people who light up a room as soon as they enter - Ian was just such a person. He was always affable and nobody was made to feel a stranger when he was around.

He was a member of the Society for 25 years having been involved with several other groups prior to that. His first role was as Buttons in Cinderella - one of his favourite pantomimes. During his time with us he performed in the majority of our other productions either in his renowned role as a pantomime Dame or showcasing his splendid singing voice in numerous cabarets and shows. Behind the scenes he also told the worst dad jokes in the world. But that was Ian who loved to perform so when illness curtailed all his stage activities his absence was felt by many including the audiences who had come to know and love him over the years.

It seems that the light in the room has gone out but at least the warmth of the memories can remain. He is a sad loss to us all.
